Comfort and Care: The Ideal Cruise Mattress Pads

Oftentimes overlooked, a mattress pad actually plays an important role with regard to the condition of one’s horizontally positioned contentment. It is a sort of cushion, ranging from a full sheet to a fine mattress. Its basic purposes are to protect the mattress, keep the bed sheets on, as well as provide more softness and gentleness overall to the bed. It can also act as a barrier between the mattress and the sheet therefore reducing any unwanted bodily excretions onto the mattress itself. It is a good idea as well if the cruise mattress pads are given fabric protection which makes the pads anti-microbial and enables them to repel water and stain. Thread count – the amount of threads for every square inch of fabric – is another factor that determines the quality of the pads. Lastly is the fill of the mattress. Normally it has polyester filling. If one wishes for more comfort and cushioning, the fill should be as thick as desired. Another type of filling would be one that is made of super-fine gel fibers, which provide even more support as well as comfort. An innovation intended specifically for comfort would be the “Visco Elastic” mattress pads or also known as “Memory Foam.” This type is sensitive to temperature and weight so they grow softer wherever the body is warmer and stay firm in the cooler parts. It adapts perfectly to the shape of one’s body without sacrificing support and flexibility. These mattress pads however, cannot resist absorbing fluids.

Of course, since the setting is nautical, it might cross one’s mind to make the cruise mattress pads water resistant. The common type is made of plastic backing that prevents fluid from touching the mattress. It can cover the bed similar to a fitted sheet. Another option would be the rubberized or vinyl mattress pad that can be zipped up around the mattress. However, these might not provide the desired comfort because it is known to add to make the person feel stuffy due to lack of circulation from the plastic.

All-in-all, the mattress pads specifically for the cruise customer should be comfortable and durable. It needs to be designed to be enjoyable and luxurious, a contributing factor to time well spent and memories worth reminiscing.
